This work is from Pistoletto’s series of “Frattali,” which Pistoletto created in 1962. The “Frattali” are mirror paintings that display the artist’s interest in conceptualism and figuration, each displaying a different shape, or color. The works reflect the viewers and their environment, creating an endless performance, which both remains the same, and is simultaneously ever-changing. This concept of “sameness” directly relates to fractals as both a natural phenomenon and a mathematical set.
