MOVING TARGETS looks anew at relationships, influences, and two-way exchanges, between historic and contemporary
American Artists. The lines of academic and modernist influence from Europe to the United States can be traced in the field’s
early days, by such artists as Stuart Davis and Marsden Hartley. The course that was chartered by these early pioneers in
American art can be felt in the later works by Dorothy Dehner and even John Chamberlain. Moving through the sixties with
the introduction of the shaped canvas, pop art andcolor field painting we see works by Al Loving Jr., Richard Anuszkiewicz,
Ken Noland, and Jules Olitski. This exhbition looks at the manylevels of culture and varieties of media, as well as rapidly
changing modes of international influence exemplified by works from Christopher Wool, George Condo and Richard Prince.
